ACTFL – American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages

CALP – Cognitive Academic Language Proficiency

CI – Comprehensible Input

ELL – English Language Learner

ESL – English as a Second Language

iFLT – International Forum on Language Teaching

L1 – A learner’s primary (usually native) language

L2 – A learner’s secondary language

MT – Movie Talk

NTPRS – National TPRS Conference

PQA – Personalized Questions and Answers

SLA – Second Language Acquisition

SL – Story Listening

TESOL – Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages

TCI – Teaching with Comprehensible Input

TPRS – Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling

TPR – Total Physical Response
